Venezuela Activates Plan to Guarantee Security During Presidential Elections

The Bolivarian Armed Forces will be deployed across the national territory distributing electoral materials.
On Wednesday, National Electoral Council (CNE) President Elvis Amoroso, Defense Minister Vladimir Padrino, and Strategic Operational Command Commander Domingo Hernandez announced the activation of the “Republic Plan.”

During a ceremony at the Los Proceres Boulevard in Caracas, the authorities indicated that this plan seeks to guarantee the security of electoral materials before the presidential elections scheduled for July 28.
The Bolivarian National Armed Forces (FANB) will be deployed across the national territory distributing electoral materials, which include over 30,000 voting machines and backup machines.
Amoroso recalled that all presidential candidates have been endorsed by the electoral authorities. Among them, however, the far-right candidate Edmundo Gonzalez refused to sign the agreement through which the candidates committed to respecting the election results.
The CNE president also mentioned that the audit prior to the dispatch of the voting machines took place on Sunday in the Mariche warehouses. As part of a political destabilization plan, however, far-right activists attempted to burn that place and destroy the electoral materials.
“It has been a tremendous war from those who do not love the Venezuelan homeland and do not respect the people. They even dared to claim that there would be no presidential elections this year,” Amoroso said and denounced the existence of a media campaign that seeks to hinder the Venezuelan elections.
“The campaign is funded with drug trafficking money or money stolen from Venezuelans by those who took the CITGO oil company,” he pointed out and asked corporate media owners not to misinform about what is actually happening in Venezuela.
“How long will you give front pages or prime time to anything said against Venezuela? How long will you spread lies and distortions about our national reality?, ” Amoroso asked.
“You know what you are spreading is a lie but remain silent. In a way, you are also accomplices of the people who seek to destroy our homeland and the beautiful process that Venezuelans are experiencing. Why don’t you say how those who stole the Venezuelan assets live?” he added.
